Who We Serve
The project targets Migrant workers in Jordan, both documented and undocumented. The focus of the project are the workers who are deprived of their rights for health assistance or shelter. The aim is to prevent any deterioration of their well-being.
- Impact and Reach : Providing health care services that included primary and secondary health care (out & in), medicines, a chronic diseases management, and awareness sessions, in addition to providing Assistive Devices and Mobility Aids. Free medical days were also held in Caritas centers to obtain a free medical examination by a general practitioner, a Triage nurse, and a nutritionist.
- Providing protection and mental health services: Counseling services were provided, including individual sessions, groups discussion, and counselling groups, in addition to family counseling services. A one-time cash for protection service of 250 Jordanian dinars was also provided to help beneficiaries overcome the financial difficulties they face. A travel tickets were also booked to ensure the return of migrant workers to their homeland and reunite them with their families.
- Caritas Jordan developed the referral mechanism by establishing two guidelines for internal and external referrals. Referral Identification and Referral Form Application were developed on CRM to support the focal point's work. Social workers and medical personnel have received training sessions on how to use this system. The referral focal point was informed of each sector's available services facilitating their identification of possible referral pathways.
- SOPs were updated by the consultant and MEAL tools have been developed and approved (3 counselling, 1 cash for protection, 2 health - general + NCD, 1 referral).
- Strengthening communication with other organizations and stakeholders by holding meetings with them to update services, exchange experiences, and enhance the referral mechanism to fill the gaps not covered by the services provided by Caritas Jorda
Our Vision
Caritas recognizes the bravery and strong spirit of people who want to build better lives for themselves and their families, but it wants migration to be an informed choice and campaigns for migrants to be properly protected by law. Caritas believes in a positive view of migration – migrants should be welcomed as they bring many benefits to their host countries not just those they left behind.
