The idea of the volunteer program came in 2001 based on the recommendations of the Synod of the Holy Land in 2000. Its goal was to organize social work in parishes and to spread voluntary concepts.

Since its establishment until today, Volunteers Program has contributed to spreading the thought and importance of social and voluntary work through many social and humanitarian initiatives and activities, in addition to various trainings and workshops that worked to raise the capabilities of youth and volunteers.

The program seeks to contribute to building society and revitalizing the pastoral and civil society by working to establish a network of trained volunteers who are qualified in the skills and concepts of building community relations and networking. The aim is to reach a clear and mature concept of performing social service in a way that meets local social needs based on teamwork participation in decision-making, response, humanitarian assistance and positive initiative, based on the thought and spirit of participation in an organized manner supported by an effective needs study.

About 3000 volunteers were registered during the twenty years, distributed in various governorates of the Kingdom.
